Job Summary

Altus Regional is looking for a Policy & Advocacy Lead to join its Consulting Team in Barbados. The Policy & Advocacy lead will work collaboratively with our legal and research teams to deliver policies according to project specifications. This role will report to the Director of Consulting and will operate cross functionally with stakeholders across our Maritime, Corporate, Marketing, and the Climate Action teams.

 

The ideal candidate will have experience in leading campaigns, advocacy development, strategic project management skills and a strong record of high-level engagements. They will have a strong track record of directing this type of work in a collaborative work environment. Experience working in a policy or corporate communications position will be highly valued in this role. The successful candidate will also utilize excellent communication and analytical skills to consistently deliver high-quality work under severe time constraints. They will have proven global experience and directly influence and collaborate with internal peers to drive the development of policy programs and campaigns.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting senior consultants;
  • C0nducting in-depth legal and scholarly research;
  • Lead corporate policy and advocacy efforts
  • Work cross functionally with teams across the ARCS Group to inform policy issues and messaging
  • Develop briefs and memos around impactful governmental policy and regulation
  • Build relationships with external stakeholders
  • Develop frameworks for establishing social outcomes and benefits
  • Work with academics, research institutions and universities for collaborative learning
  • Works closely with the legal team on drafting policies
  • Work closely with the Environmental Team on preparing EIAs and ESG Reports.
  • Provide analysis and guidance on legislation that impacts the ARCS Group and its clients;
  • Work with key stakeholders to stay abreast of changing law and policy and provide input for upcoming regulation or legislation
  • Represent ARCS at business events and meetings with stakeholders

Skills/Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Political Science, Law, Sociology, Communication, Economics, or related field;
  • Minimum of 3 years of policy and advocacy experience;
  • Experience in policy formulation and implementation is desired;
  • Experience working at a senior level in the maritime, environmental, tourism or financial services sector would be an asset;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
